Trudeau (wherever he’s funk-holed) getting that Ceausescu feeling…?
Rhis, if you’re on Twitter you can follow a hashtag like this…
#CanadaTruckers
…for up-to-the-minute Citizen footage of what’s actually going on.
What is going on in Canada is quite extraordinary. Mind you, over the last few years I’ve been running out of superlatives.
Over the last few years I’ve been running out of expletives.
Pat, I don’t do smileys, but if I did there’d be a big smiley smiley for your post.
I imagine Trudeau will not make the decisions about what to do next. The elite are deciding if Trudeau should be sacrificed to the crowd (via a sex tape or something of that sort). But that would have world wide repercussions for other WEF puppets, people will see that people power is indeed powerful, some puppets may cut their strings. That’s a dangerous stimulant for more activism. The elite are not all powerful, nor are they creative. They almost always react in patterned ways. What is the pattern? We can see it already, divide and conquer (via planted Nazi flags that ‘become the story’). Maybe ‘give in’ just enough to make a lot of people go home. Stretch it out…wait. Call in the military (quite dangerous because the military, when there is such a huge movement, sometimes sides with the people) Announce some kind of ‘government investigation into xyz’.
But what if the elite decide to ‘wait’ and MORE people come? And people, being people, figure out that they can STAY A LONG TIME if they support each other, and get outside support. So the key in my opinion is the will of the people to stay in freezing temperatures and increase their numbers.
Whatever happens, this is ALREADY a BIG WIN for the freedom movement. It’s already having international repercussions, imitations…it’s also being imitated in other cities in Canada.
Here in Montpellier at the demo on saturday there were suddenly canadian flags flying and quite a few homemade signs referring to the events in Canada.
Take a look at some of the “social” clips of last year’s G8’shindig in Cornwall. It was perfectly clear from these that Trudeau was the kid who gets picked for the soccer team last. His body language is that of the easily picked upon. At the level of one human feeling compassion for another I take no satisfaction in pointing out these things but if a public humiliation is necessary to the closing scenes of covid panto then he, Macron, and the ridiculous stooges in Australia and New Zealand look just the part.
Biden and his ludicrous VeePee next. Johnson is going too. They’ve served their purpose as voodoo dollies for the real power.
As pointed out by several here, left-right is not a really useful frame work for understanding what is happening now.
Despite that, this is from a long running left wing news organization located in British Columbia (west coast of Canada). The writer echoes my unease about what I consider harmful elements making alliances with ordinary people unhappy about the mandates.
The truckers and their supporters know what is important to them. It’s not ‘being’ on the left - they are losing their jobs, or worse. And people in need can’t be fussy.
Being on the left is not enough - the left need to live up to their stated ideals.
When did you ever see trade unionists say “90% of our members are allright”?
Is the discomfort really about ‘harmful elements’ or is it about being upstaged on political and moral ground that they thought they owned by divine right?
‘The left’ can always just you know…start supporting the protestors.
I was never in favour of vacc mandates and think they should be lifted.
After observing it for over a week, I can say that I do not support the trucker protest in Ottawa. Reasons:
- lack of respect for the neighbours. The ongoing noise is unacceptable. Imagine residents with children or anyone who doesn’t have the option to leave. Imagine local businesses. And even if they do have the option to leave, why should they be forced out of their homes over this?
- environmentally destructive. The fumes from idling big diesel engines for several hours each day. The waste of fossil fuels to travel there.
- who is behind it? Those rigs are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. How can the truckers afford to take this time off work and tie up the equipment for this long?
- should everyone who has a cause be able to take over blocks of a downtown and cause havoc for an indefinite time?
If they had demonstrated last weekend and then left, they would have made the point and had widespread support.
Imagine local businesses
Only Black Lives Matter and other worthy causes.

Karen, above, looks safe from diesel fumes to me. She will be having a sharp word with the manager momentarily.
Jackie, to briefly address your points:
-
the lockdowns and other covid measures over the last two years have completely destroyed the lives of countless millions of people. For instance, as well as all the small to medium businesses that have gone bankrupt, mental heath and suicide rates have gone through the roof (particularly among children). Our societies effectively destroyed all because of some BS virus that’s no worse than flu. I’m not sure how a load of truckers honking their horns, in support of basic freedoms, compares to that.
-
what about the zillions and zillions of tons of idiotic PPE stuff, including masks, that on a daily basis is being dumped in huge quantities. Do you think that this doesn’t harm the environment?
-
most of the original truckers behind the ‘freedom protest’ had already lost their livelihood because of vaccine mandates. This is not just USA - Canada border. You can’t fly anywhere in Canada without a vaccine passport. Many truckers used to drive across Canada for five days, or whatever, then leave their rig for a while to fly home and spend some time with their families.
-
the truckers are not a fringe minority: all of us have had our human rights and civil liberties stripped from us in ways that would have been unthinkable two years ago; and again, all on the back of a total BS virus.
If you want to live in a total wacko society that’s fine; go move to China; but you’ll find that the majority of people in the West won’t tolerate it.
Oh dear! Revolutions against criminal conspirators are SO inconvenient; especially for we Pampered Twenty Percenters…
Still, it isn’t as bloody as the storming of the Bastille was; not yet, anyway. Hope for something like the toppling of Honecker; that was fairly bloodless, as I remember. And he needed urgently to go, like Trudeau.
Report from Matthew Ehret in Ottawa:
Well, this might prove to be interesting, since a ‘state of emergency’ allows the authorities to do anything they want, and basically act outside the law. I’ve heard rumors (and they are just that) that the Canadian military is refusing to take part in any action against the protestors. Again, this looks more and more like a re-run of eastern Europe in 1989.
“If you want to live in a total wacko society that’s fine; go move to China; but you’ll find that the majority of people in the West won’t tolerate it.”
I don’t think we can tell people where to live - you could say that to the truckers, but isn’t that attitude the problem?
I agree many of the objections to the truckers actions seem opportunist. To put them in perspective, the government could alleviate them all, and the ‘state of emergency’, at a stroke by withdrawing its own sack threat to truckers. The mandate is devious and political - Canada’s virus figures are 40% of the UK (and ‘cases’ have been falling), who backed off its mass mandate sack threat. It’s undemocratic and should be uniting Canadians, but sadly, the media has done its real job on the public, which isn’t, of course, to inform them but to to keep them in a state of fear and ignorance.
I don’t think we can tell people where to live
You also can’t dictate to people how to live.
There also seems to be a bit of a news blackout with all things Ottawa at the moment.
I just hope the robocops don’t kill too many of the protestors.
Because it’s all about health, innit, and when they’re washing down the blood on the sidewalks at least we will no longer have to listen to those dreadful honking horns.
The police won’t want a battle with endless convoys of trucks, the strategy is to try to deny them support. Pity, they could really use a Neil Young
I haven’t looked at this yet but I will say that the word ‘patriot’ sets off alarms for me.
Funny, it was all over the news here.
I daresay you’d feel differently about the horns if they were outside your home for 10 days. Isn’t loud noise used to torture people?
