Don’t know why I was so resistant to reading this article - I’ve followed several fascinating twatter threads discussing it - - seems this Emily Oster hasn’t really learned anything.
Take this:
When the vaccines came out, we lacked definitive data on the relative efficacies of the Johnson & Johnson shot versus the mRNA options from Pfizer and Moderna. The mRNA vaccines have won out. But at the time, many people in public health were either neutral or expressed a J&J preference. This misstep wasn’t nefarious. It was the result of uncertainty.
This clearly speaks to a shocking dimwittery. The one thing ‘lack[ing]’ which should have been a bright red flag to anybody with even a modicum of sense was the absence of data on the short, medium and long-term effects of the jabs. This imo was the single most startling aspect of the covid bollocks - perhaps exemplified in those interminable tussles with the head honcho on TLN. I still struggle to understand why anybody would be unconcerned about such a crucial matter - but it wasn’t just the blasé dismissals of those misgivings - the aggressive put downs of those sounding a caution, the insults and smears were totally ‘nefarious’ - - we had to endure ridicule from intensely short-sighted fools who were so easily swayed into believing they had something called ‘the science’ on their side. There was no ‘the science’. It seems clear that there was a particularly evil aim - - to call that a ‘misstep’ is naïve in the extreme.
Ultimately Oster offers:
Many people have neglected their health care over the past several years. Notably, routine vaccination rates for children (for measles, pertussis, etc.) are way down. Rather than debating the role that messaging about COVID vaccines had in this decline, we need to put all our energy into bringing these rates back up.
Yes people’s health care was severely neglected - that’s another aspect of the crime. In all those daily press conferences with Johnson, Vallance, Witty, Hancock, Harries etc, was there ever any actual genuine health advice imparted? Not that I can recall. Just incessant demands that people continued doing things that impacted negatively on health: mask wearing; staying indoors thus avoiding sunlight and beneficial natural vit D; continuously blathering ones hands with harmful hand-sanitisers…and on…And rather than allowing for a discussion around the whole demented jab-happy routines that have arguably given rise to numerous modern-day maladies, Oster is more concerned about reasserting vigorous jab regimes for children. I find that startling. The criminal venture that was the roll-out of those iffy mRNA jabs really ought to have lent folk some inclination to reappraise the entire notion of jabbing.
Oster ends on this note:
Let’s acknowledge that we made complicated choices in the face of deep uncertainty, and then try to work together to build back and move forward
No! We didn’t make ‘complicated choices’. We were presented with an evident con - on the back of that con a clearly demented supranational body of criminals imposed upon us a series of harmful diktats - any refusal to comply saw individuals scoffed at, ridiculed, and treated in a most oppressive and barbaric manner. As far as I’m concerned the whole thing has been a con - I plaster this wherever I can
Amnesty? No! There needs to be a reckoning. Clearly, that’s no going to happen as any real reckoning would need to see a wholesale sweeping-out of all the individuals/institutions that perpetrated this enormous crime…and barring a worldwide uprising, that’s not going to happen anytime soon.
