Chinese COVID vaccine candidate based on inactivated virus appears safe, induces immune response, study finds
Detailed results given: the ins and outs and the how many’s. Parameter ranges, limitations, context - especially what the study doesn’t do.
Results only announced when the paper is published in a medical outlet somewhere for scrutiny, which means expert commentary. As opposed to billions of dollar contracts being secured on zero specified information - give us the money now, and we’ll give you the results later.
Modest, matter-of-fact language, as opposed to the “Can you afford to miss this?” announcements over the last few days from Pfizer and Moderna, in which it was difficult to find any useful information due to the protective coatings of added hype from media and politicians that enclosed it.
how very interesting the different approaches are. I wonder if Chinese execs are coining it in the same way that the western drug company execs are…
It’s interesting to note all the negative press that the Chinese vaccine has had from the trials in Brazil. Clearly people are worried that the Chinese effort will be too competitive in a free market (cough cough Huawei anyone?)
The propaganda level is probably as needs must. I expect there would be less non-compliance with the vaccine in China, whereas over here a large proportion need convincing. The level and advance nature of the hype indicates it’s liable to be more convincing and effective than the facts.
Does anyone have anything in the way of half-way convincing evidence that the covid virus has actually been isolated? There seems to be considerable doubt, and outright denial, about this. This piece from Off-G seems pretty typical, and there’s a lot of it about:
If the virus still hasn’t been isolated, or even confirmed to exist, then how would a killed virus be incorporated into the Chinese vaccine? What do the Chinese really know? Anyone seen anything from them, or from anywhere, that looks like a fairly convincing demonstration that it does indeed exist, and really has been isolated? In spite of all the vehement insistence, I don’t remember ever seeing any evidence that looks conclusive.
Hi RG, I’ve posted a link to a Korean team that have isolated the virus. And Ila Canadian team. I did scan the article from Off-G, and their own CDC refs show that they isolated the virus as well.
Unless someone can show me that the Korean team et al are fakers, your question is answered, no?
I’ll answer that with a cautious ‘yes, perhaps’. Seems possible, but I’m much exercised lately with the basic question: ‘In a world swamped with lies, what CAN we believe…’ Great caution always needed.
