Your Man in the Public Gallery: Assange Hearing Day 17 - Craig Murray

To despair and shock and anger must now be added sheer disbelief at the depths of dishonesty and cruelty to which various representatives of “authority” have sunk.

I must also say that I don’t actually understand why Murray felt obliged to conceal certain aspects of Assange’s medical history, in earlier reports, as if they reflected badly on Assange rather than on his persecutors.

I feel that this illustrates the absurdity surrounding the whole topic of “mental illness”, but I do have a simply enormous axe to grind on that topic. If I am failing to understand a natural reticence on Murray’s part, perhaps someone will enlighten me.

Anyway, aside from any possible obsession on my part, the important thing is that when those previously hidden details are revealed - as Murray is driven to do in this report - anyone with decent human feelings will be even more shocked and outraged than before, impossible though that seems, after all that has already happened.

Please excuse me if I am reacting too personally. This is a momentous case, and I don’t mean to get in the way of Murray’s report. I am lost in admiration for what he is doing.
