Thanks @rippon - I"ll check it out. Before watching, I will say that the cytokine storm was the exact problem with the work on the original SARS vaccine (and why there never was a successful one). In vitro the vaccine seemed to kill off the virus no problem, but when they moved onto animal trials, the immune response generated by the vaccine was so strong that when the poor animals were exposed to SARS post-vaccine, it triggered a huge immune response that ended up killing several of the vaccinated animals.
Fingers crossed that this is not the situation weāre all currently in! Letās see what Prof Cahill has to say.
Cheers
Edit: so, Iāve watched it now. I donāt know how to evaluate her claims on mRNA, or why the possibility of a bad immune reaction should be worse with this type of vaccine as opposed to any other - but overall I have to say that I think she made some good points. The question of the vaccine triggering a dangerous immune response when a person becomes exposed to the virus is definitely something to be taken seriously. Iāve spent a bit of time today looking to try and find some published data to put my mind at rest about that, but Iāve not found any. Instead I have found several articles that raise the same exact concerns, and saying that this is something to be taken seriously by vaccine manufacturers.
Definitely something to keep an eye on for sure.
Hi Rippon. Most of the claim is covered in the first 5 minutes then they go on to questions. (There might be more after that).
There is definitely substance to it which is all that needs to be addressed. She hasnāt made this up and indeed such warnings have been expressed with almost equal certainty in the BMJ, and it seems they are backed by evidence.

and
Informed consent disclosure to vaccine trial subjects of risk of COVIDā19 vaccines worsening clinical disease
Cahill says the problem is called Antibody Dependent Response or Cytokine Storm or Immuno-priming or Immune Superpriming. It seems it is also known as Antibody-dependent enhancement or ADE. She continues:
āā¦This is why there has been no vaccine licensed for decades against coronavirusā¦because the messenger RNA starts expressing the virus and when it comes across the circulating virus, it could be a month or a year or two years down the road, then the people get very ill very quickly with this cytokine storm. And they also saw this with a respiratory vaccine RSVā.
She illustrates the problem with this paper:
Tseng, Immunization with SARS coronavirus vaccines leads to pulmonary immunopathology on challenge with the SARS virus
She then cites the authors highlighting previous occurrence of this in the first Sars-Cov, which echoed an earlier instance with the RSV vaccine where they say that most vaccinated children got severe RSV infection, with a high frequency and two children of the 35 died. The conclusion was āthe disease was enhanced by the prior vaccination.ā
There are several precedents. RSV isnāt a coronavirus but coronavirus vaccines appear particularly susceptible to this problem.
One of the above BMJ articles goes so far as to say patients will not have informed consent unless the risk of ADE (which confers a much more serious outcome when the disease is encountered) is explained to them.
Itās also explained there the problem is not a particular vaccine or the way that it is delivered.
Hope helpful
