Top notch analysis from Alastair Crooke:
From the article, “The puzzle here is why Trump doesn’t cut off U.S. weapons and intelligence flows to Kiev, and tell the Europeans to butt out of Trump’s way? Does Kiev have some form of veto power? Does Team Trump not understand that the Europeans simply hope to disrupt Trump’s aim to normalise relations with Russia? They must do.”
What nonsense. Far be it for me to criticise Alastair Crooke, but this has so much wrong with it I don’t know where to begin. For instance:
“The puzzle here is why Trump doesn’t cut off U.S. weapons and intelligence flows …”
There is no puzzle here. Ending the war would hurt Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin. It will also have rapid impact on 600,000 thousand or so employees, many of whom will be MAGA supporters.
Does Kiev have some form of veto power?
Of course not, but Trumps donors do. So too, the deep state, and they don’t want the war to end. Not only is ‘war good for business’, but ending it will allow the world to focus on an ongoing genocide rather than a mere war.
Does Team Trump not understand that the Europeans simply hope to disrupt Trump’s aim
Listen to almost any of the respected political analysts. They are all critical of team Trump’s experience, ability to think critically, and often their varied agendas, some personal, some principled. So the answer to Alastair’s question would be, “No. They do not understand.”
Sorry @Rich but I stopped reading after that paragraph.
