There are other hypotheses, one being that this is yet another crisis of capitalism, which is steering itself towards a new posture, without ANY human group being anything like in control of the process; whilst at the same time the actual deadly-seriousness of the pandemic has been grossly exaggerated, by axe-grinding human cliques leaping onto the opportunity bandwaggon. This view offers some sort of more convincing way out of the ‘two-warring-camps’ binary that I’ve been seeking for some time:

Lengthy though it is, the ASH article that Roddis pretentiously damns with faint praise, only to endorse, is majorly worth reading. So too the older articles on the site, there’s about a year’s worth now on ‘Biopolitics’, and several more on wider issues.
Roddis has been called out by a lot of the BTL comments at OffG and on this occasion with very good reason. Not quite as excruciating to read as Curtin but stamped out of the same mould. Tiresome pedants, I’m afraid.
