The governing elites, when truly threatened, turn the rule of law into farce. Dissent becomes treason. They use the state mechanisms of control — intelligence agencies, police, courts, black propaganda and a compliant press that acts as their echo chamber, along with the jails and prisons — not only to marginalize and isolate rebels, but to psychologically and physically destroy them
When vested interests are threaten the pretence is revealed in deadly speed; while still at school, I read a news report that a ice-cream vendor was shot dead by another ice-cream vendor for selling in his “patch”, and I remember thinking how depraved & senseless it was to take somebody’s life because a commercial competitor might make a dent in your profits; well the elites are exactly the same, they will ruthlessly safeguard their lucrative status-quo against all possible challenges to it, with merciless force, the more merciless the better so as to act as a deterrent. “Democracy”, “Freedom” "Rule of Law“, “Justice”, “Liberty,” etc, are empty slogans to fool the naïve as to how the powerful elites rule over us.
Agreed… As you know, over one of the things I’m currently thinking about is what avenues for resistance or what paths to change are still open to us. Right now I’m coming up blank… But I’m still thinking about it.
