The Rule of Claw strikes again - this time from the highest court in the World, the ICJ :
The science of the IPCC is limited to analysis of Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) or climate change - any other factor affecting climate change apart from that caused by human activity HAS TO BE IGNORED by the IPCC’s founding charter. This has now passed into International Law - we cannot mention solar activity, ocean activity, clouds, historic climate changes before industrialisation, planet and cosmic relationships, evidence of temperature changes preceding CO2 changes, etc etc - courts can only look at IPCC’s “science” that is solely looking at AGW.
So this is the second biggest ICJ event over the last 2 years - the first being the failure to produce a final judgement on Israel for genocide in Gaza as a matter of urgency. Such a ruling would have required most of the World to stop arming or servicing Israel or trading with countries that do, imo.
The stupidity of Law and Lawyers should never be underestimated.
This just serves to underline the irrelevance of both the ICC and the ICJ. If it wasn’t so serious, it would be funny. However it does remind me of the old joke.
The wall between heaven and hell was in bad need of repair. God looks over the wall as says to the devil, it’s your turn to repair the wall. The devil just laughs and says, “I’m not doing it”. God says, “Well we’ll have to sue you” (in the ICJ?). The devil laughs again and says, “Where are you going to get a lawyer”.
this report in the Grauniad anticipates that the ICJ will take until 2027 or 2028 until a decision on Israeli genocide in Gaza can be expected :
Using the Lancet model of calculating the Israeli murders of Gazans the current figure is in excess of 400,000 which is over 10 times the number when the case was first brought to the ICJ in December 2023 - at this rate the total Israeli murders of Gazans could be well in excess of half the population, 1.2 million, when a decision is made! The other half could well be forcibly removed from Palestine.
What is the point of a decision which is announced after there are no longer any Palestinians left in Gaza , the West bank or Jerusalem!?
As Tom Bingham said in his book Rule of Law :
“It is a familiar aphorism, attributed to Gladstone, that ‘justice delayed is justice denied’, and King John famously pledged in Magna Carta that he would neither deny nor delay justice”.
Not too bad a gig being an ICJ judge. Heres what I was able to find.
i) Salary base of $191,000
ii) Got to live in the Netherlands with usual relocation and housing allowances
iii) After a nine-year term, a non-contributory pension of 50 % of salary
iv) Salaries and pension, exempt from income tax!!!
v) Full diplomatic privileges
And how does one get this gig? One must have the majority vote of both the UN General Assembly and the Security Council, so just gotta appease all the UN Security Council members. That means (obviously?) no anti-Israehell judgements unless they take so long that they are meaningless.
