The inimitable Vernon Coleman on "climate change"

No need to agree with everything he says but he does pull out some interesting facts.

  • IPCC says by 2100, global GDP could be reduced by up to 5% but global economy will up to 500% larger, hence climate change effects will be negligable

  • The plot started off as “global warming” but had to change the name when it became clear the planet was cooling

  • IPCC says sea levels could rise 2 feet by 2100. Yet 2/3 of the Netherlands has always been below sea level and some of it up to 60 feet below

  • 2004 The Observer said we would have a Siberian climate by 2020, 2007 we were warned we had 5 years to save the planet, in 2009 Gordon Brown said we had 50 days left, in 2011 the international energy agency said 5 years left, in 2013 a Cambridge professor said all the Artic ice would be gone by 2015 and in 2017 the UN said 3 years left

  • Average annual acreage of American forest lost to fire is now around 6.6 million. In 1928, the average was over 40 million

Worth a listen as he also has a few dry jokes in there.
