According to this piece, they already had warnings some years back that a pandemic could blow up at any time, and this was their preferred policy response.

I’ve not seen Last Man on Earth, but I’ve just finished watching a channel 4 series from 2013/14 called Utopia. Not sure what the writers were on when they wrote it, but it definitely made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!
I’d say worth a watch if you like sci-fi, thriller-y things. Lots of current interest, what with pandemics, vaccines and the like.
But stay away from the 2020 American remake currently on Amazon Prime. I found that one almost unwatchable…
