Strong rumours circulating around TZ that he died of covid. The Zanzibari vice president has also died in Dar-es-Salaam of covid.
For whatever reason, the virus seems to be picking up steam there now. Could be very bad indeed…
He is replaced by Samia Suluhu Hassan. She will be the first female president in any East African country.
She has a tough road ahead for sure
Strong rumours? Really? Started by GAVI and WHO most probably. And why did he die? Becuase he had the impudence, the cheeck, the gaul to question the PCR test and ignore the lockdown command from on high.

I don’t know if they were started by the WHO, or by the doctors who were treating him. I’m sorry he’s dead though.
My guess is because, like so many leaders, he didn’t take Covid seriously.
There has been a difference in response when I talk to family in TZ these days. There’s a lot more covid than there was.
