Sheer lollousness

Caitlyn Johnstone definitely packs a punch. There are a few lols in her latest:

A spiritual seeker approached an enlightened master and asked, “What is the path to enlightenment?”

The master pointed at the seeker’s chest and said, “The path is in you.”

The seeker immediately experienced satori. He wandered away and people noticed the serene expression on his face.

“Did the old master help you awaken?” they asked.

“Yes,” he replied.

“Well? What is the path?”

He thought a minute, remembering what he’d been told, and, pointing to his chest, said “The path is in me!”

They all oohed and ahhed, and sat down at his feet.

And that’s how gurus were invented.

A yogi was sitting and looking within himself and became dismayed at all the delusion-rooting conditioning he found.

“I couldn’t possibly have made all this mess just in this lifetime!” he said.

And that’s how reincarnation was invented.

What a great article. CJ is a lone voice of sanity!

Thanks

Seconding Pontius, Walter. Thanks! We have to be similar lonely voices, just to stay sane. (Think Terror Derangement Syndrome, and how easily it’s driven formerly sound and steady minds of their trollies!)

Yes it’s a good article, as ever, from CJ. I just posted the lols. I wondered if it would be good to have a place for lighter stuff, or could it turn the place into a kind of hangout.
I wanted to just name the thread Lollousness but you have to use 15 characters. Is this to keep the ethos of discussions rather than say, whimsies?

That’s a setting that I just looked up. I just changed it to 5 characters… Let’s see if that adds a little pep and whimsy!

Hahaha! I think The Twits is a perfect description for our current cabinet

Interestingly it is the centenary of the birth of Ray Bradbury, and there is an ongoing “read-a-thon” happening at the moment. The perfect time to remind yourself what a great book Fahrenheit 451 is.

You can have a listen to it here.
