Who knows which little knot of commentators has it nearest right? Impossible to be certain. But this line of thought below smells like a front-runner to me:
What really strikes me Rhis, is the American commentators. Whatever their view, very few of them even have a concept of what the US and Nato have being doing to countries and (mostly) poor non-white people all over the world. They are impervious to it. Even some of the UK informed guys like those on the UK Column, for whom I have the greatest of respect, still talk as if we need major defence (for defense, read offense) forces. Of course we don’t except for our various overseas ventures bombing civilians and raping their natural resources, just as if it were still the days of the slave trade. That’s not a blind spot. It’s ignorance.
