I’m sure he’s right - the only way for the US people to have a say is to make it an election issue. This means not committing your vote until you are given a policy commitment.
It’s obviously a wider worry that nuclear safety is relegated to a local (=US) election issue. Past lunacy coming home to roost.
But what of the rest of us? It is almost unimaginably dangerous that matters relating to solitary first nuclear strikes are subservient to political expedience in the first place, let alone at a local level. But given the mad reality, the election logic is a political lever that has to be used everywhere, futile though it might seem in minion states like the UK. Maybe its time for the sheep to be testing the strength of those wooden barriers.
