Heading back, quite distinctly, to Third World style neo-feudal arrangements; the inevitable default setting, if enough of us don’t get bolshie enough to insist on something better.

Just a brief reminder. The Long Descent is the thesis that growing population, pressing on shrinking - and irreplaceable - commodities essential to maintain a hitech industrial ‘civilisation’, is racing us towards an apocalyptic global crisis which mandates a physically-non-negotiable reduction in what we can expect to get from the Earth to sustain our lives. Overall shrinkage thus becomes inevitable. But via vile neo-feudalism, or scarcity socialism…? The answer to that lies with we - the many - if we can be arsed to see clearly and act resolutely:
