Well I never, a large online retailer is combining it’s predatory “competitive” tactics with Woke bollix.
A few things I’d noticed in the last month or so, once they’d counted all their Christmas Cash.
Neil Young albums (and then sundry others of the pedal steel genre) turning up in my recommendations a few weeks back. I eventually realised that a few clicks on Lana Del Ray albums had triggered this sudden deluge. (Another interesting AI glitch was a rap album called Gotti, named after the mafioso, which triggered dozens of album suggestions that merely had Italian titles.)
Another thing I noticed is that it is no longer possible to listen to 30 seconds of any/all album tracks unless one joins the Amazin’ Music app. Free for a month and then Not At All Free.
CDs frequently have release dates put back by months. I prefer physical music so that I get to own it, too many digital albums suddenly have greyed out tracks because part of the chorus upsets people. (See also Elvis Costello self censoring Oliver’s Army, just before his new album was released. The song includes the line “…one less white nigger…” and it’s abundantly clear and always has been that the narrative point of view is from the Establishment racist perspective of the British Armed Forces. Armed Forces was the name of the album, could it be an clearer?)
Also there are quite a few Amazin’ Exclusive artistes nowadays which appear to be contracted to some subPrime record label they control. A bit like the almost exclusively fourth rate material on their streaming video service.
Can any of these be linked in any way?
