. . . and consider the idea that these musings are his own and not necessarily a reflection of MW editorial policy (though of course they thought it worth publishing).
My interpretation of IAR’s piece is that he has noticed, as have both M & I, that there has been a big push recently to concentrate public attention on ‘the settlers’ (see Huckabee’s recent comments) and how naughty they are. This has included a novel acknowledgement on the part of the hasbaristas that what these settlers are doing is bad and of course nobody could possibly approve of them. It’s the separation of ‘the settlers’ from ‘Israel’ that’s the issue here.
We recall David Scott on UKC - before 7/10 - explaining that the attacks on Huwarra were, thankfully, mitigated by the moderating presence of the IDF. We challenged that at the time, and we’re always on the lookout for this kind of crap. He appears to have been ahead of the game.
(btw. It must be about 20 years since the IDF adopted a policy of having their conscripts serving as close to home as possible. Some implications there no?)
Anyway, this is the context in which to put the labelling of the settlers as ‘terrorists’; its another very clever way of dissociating, in public discourse, the evil bastard Jewish State from what its actually willingly, deliberately doing. And look who’s very happy to use this (the nasty little nodding dog Minibrain -thanks for that one CJ). IAR could have perhaps explained his argument better, but regular MW-ites, I imagine, would have got it - MW has been around a long time!
Have you read the Israel Project’s Global Language Dictionary (compulsory reading since 2009!!)? Still going strong . . .

Yes, got all that AG - it wasn’t the musings of the article that I was questioning or the credibility of the author - just the headline, which had consequences that were presumably unintended.
