Love of vaccines still strong in South African academia

This article caught my eye mainly because Aseem Malhotra is fairly late to the anti-some-vaccines camp, though to read the letter reproduced in this article you would definitely not conclude that if you had never heard of him. This will be the case for many in South Africa.

It is interesting (tbh pitiful) to see how the assembled Wise Ones cite The Guardian as an esteemed source of truth, and note how determined they are to conflate anti-some-vaccines with out-and-out anti-all-vaccines rhetoric.

It seems that any deprived young 'uns allegedly dying of smallpox in Kyelitshwa, Alexandria, or Katlehong will All Be Malhotra’s Fault. Nothing to do with poverty, lack of sanitation, malnutrition etc.

With a National Strike/Day Of Action on 20 March it is possible that parts of SA will be as unpleasant to live in or to pass through as central Paris has been this weekend. But let’s find a visiting pommie to attack.
