Watched a bit of this, H/T TLN.
In my Sunday mellowness, I was wondering if it might be a tad harsh to blast on people who are keeping shtoom on Gaza, for fear of career suicide - unless you’ve committed suicide or made major sacrifice yourself.
But this item tells the whole story
As the clip runs, it becomes clear that, when it was politically expedient - ie rewarding - it was fine to be political; about Ukraine, the ‘threat to Europe’, cue the spectre bad old days of the bad old Nazis.
But criticizing the new Nazis, when the climate is unfavourable? It’s not our job to do that.
Wish it were Monday…
UPDATE:
This is the paywalled NYT article in the screenshot, which well shows how the selective views of famous artisan influencers can help manipulate the public:
Wim Wenders on Where the War in Europe Really Ended 80 Years Ago
In a short film and in conversation, the German filmmaker ponders the meaning of freedom, the complacency of peace and the new insecurity from Russia’s war and Donald Trump.

In other words, this respected film maker’s condemnation of Russia is flashed all over America via it’s leading newspaper. Decent people are against wars - Russian wars. But not Israeli or US wars.
In the TLN clip, Wim Wenders is Jury Presdent of the 76th Berlinale, which is just completing.
Condemnation of Israel, which would likely happen in a more open climate, is prevented by career fear, and self censorship results.
Sorry if this post is a bit garbled with the postscript added
