Very interesting discussion, RG. I didn’t realise how disconnected Russia is from US Treasuries. It wouldn’t be the first time that US sanctions (and EU sanctions) have had the opposite effect than what they were trying for. Cuba is a great example - how it managed to get through the horrendous sanctions regime and ultimately went on to thrive, is a great example.
Thriving in a time of adversity is a key point that we (especially in post-Brexit England) will have to get good at, fast. It’s the key to resilience. I fear that it will come as quite a shock to the system.
The only thing that I would raise is the last 90 seconds and the ridiculous smearing of Black Lives Matter. Are we seriously considering that black people in america are trying to get rid of the family? Are trying to get rid of Christianity? What a ludicrous and rascist comment. Good thing that was at the end otherwise I would have immediately turned it off.
And as for the casual comment that (racially) diverse communities are against human nature - how depressing. It’s all getting a bit Jordan Peterson-y. I’m seeing this creeping rascism rise in a lot of corners these days. We are all humans - leaves of the same tree. Unless we start to celebrate our diversity and strengths, we are condemning ourselves to endless conflict.
Anyway. Apart from the rascism at the end, and the championing of good clean Christian values (ugh) the rest of the interview was pretty interesting.
