Iraq WMD Mark II, indeed @CJ1
While the world’s media mislead about “Iran’s nuclear program” to suggest the problem is nuclear weapons, Trump et al reserve a position that Iran should have no nuclear power.
This is a very handy war recipe, making it nigh impossible for Iran to comply with any request that is about weapons.
From 23 March 2025
Trump administration is seeking “full dismantlement” of Iran’s nuclear program, Waltz says
Even before this no-nukes assessment, in spite the absence of a genuine threat as per official reports, Trump had already made similar threats to Iran.
From the BBC on 12 March
In a TV interview broadcast last Friday [ie Friday 7 March - ED], Trump said: “There are two ways Iran can be handled: militarily, or you make a deal. I would prefer to make a deal, because I’m not looking to hurt Iran. They’re great people.”
“I have written them a letter saying, ‘I hope you’re going to negotiate,’ because if we have to go in militarily, it’s going to be a terrible thing for them,” he added.
So we can reasonably conclude that this was an existing US plan albeit carried out by Netanyahu, and that a false pretext is being given, being one that isn’t even true.
Ergo this has more to do with Iran’s position in the middle east, and its support for Palestine. Regime change.
Thursday night, the SoS for defense:
“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region. Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”
Larry Johnson and Ray McGovern attempt to make sense of the conflicting statements from the same camp:
I guess this is aimed at deterring Iran from attacking US bases.
At 15.10 Trump promises to drain the swamp and get rid of the warmongers who “love killing, killing, killing”.
