Just seen this live headline from the BBC:
Israel targets Iran’s nuclear sites and miltary commanders.
The reality seems to be that Israel hit many civilian areas deliberately; killing people as they slept.
There is little chance of damaging civilian nuclear facilities buried so far underground.
The real headline should be
“BBC passes off Israeli claims as news”
I suppose that wouldn’t be news…
An alternative headline might be
“An old man risks his planet keeping himself out of jail”

Some Iranian reports here, naturally more bullish.
More damage is claimed; Iran may want to talk up its response, in an attempt to ward off a bigger war. I haven’t noticed any reports of fatalities. Maybe Iran just hasn’t levelled any apartment blocks.
Professor Marandi points out that Iran’s nuclear facilities are not the target.
While Israel’s national security adviser explains that these strikes will not be enough to destroy nuclear facilities, Netanyahu continues to pretend otherwise:
“Israel’s operation “will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a TV address.”
A quick look shows that even the Japanese media is parroting the standard Israeli narrative. It must be a capitalist thing…
Iran’s nuclear facilities are just like Hamaz in Gaza, justifying any attack. It seems they can be underground, or even concealed in apartment blocks. Wherever Israel’s missiles land in Gaza is called Hamas, and Iran it will be called “Iran’s nuclear weapons”.
Marandi also expressed astonishment that France has alrerady said that Israel has the right to defend itself - ie, it seemingly has “the right” to attack anybody it wants to.
He points out that Israel is attacking Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and now Iran.

The role of the US here is therefore obvious, though it’s hard to separate the motivations of the US/Trump from Israel.

Tehran had been engaged in talks with the Trump administration on a deal to curb its nuclear program to replace one that Trump abandoned in 2018. Tehran rejected the last U.S. offer."
Marandi has also pointed out that other gulf states have supported Israel one way or another.
Meanwhile Egypt is quietly supporting the war on Arabs - by cracking down on pro-Palestinian protests.
One last thing - Marandi was on Sky news and due to then go on BBC news. Sky was trying to concentrate on the supposed military aspects of Israeli attack, Marandi pointed out that apartment blocks were attacked and mostly civilians were killed, including women and children.
The BBC cancelled the interview.
Israel’s support seems to be western capitalist governments and their oppressive client/puppet regimes around the world. Not many ordinary people outside the US and Israel itself.
