Is Yugoslavia the playbook re Russia in Ukraine?

Hi folks, I was just thinking about the Russian-Ukraine issue as to:
a. What are the real facts behind this current situation?
b. Do we have any precedents on all fours with this?

a. Maria Zakarova went into a lot of the political background as far as the Russian perspective which two of us have posted recently. But I wonder whether we have looked closely at the economics of the post USSR breakup in relation to Ukraine as well as the impact of the 2008 financial crisis and the movement of energy prices.
I thought back to the breakup of Yugoslavia and came across some interesting analysis from WSWS:

Which backed up the largely political analysis of Herman and Peterson in their 5 parter 2007 called Dismantling Yugoslavia :

, both pieces paint the real facts behind the breaking up by design of Yugoslavia and I think the western warmongers are perhaps using a similar playbook here today with Ukraine-Russia. The problem of course is that it won’t work with Russia as Putin has said - if we can’t keep Russia , why would we worry about keeping the planet! The West has no xxxxxxx idea what they are doing!

Cheers

PS. As I pointed out it does also seem as though Russia is using another part of the Yugoslavian playbook of the West to claim legality for their actions - support breakaway republics from Ukraine ( Luhansk & Donesk), wait 8 years for peace moves ( Minsk) to settle their independence , when this fails recognise the Republics as independent and immediately enter into an alliance of mutual defence, enforce that alliance by intervention against Ukraine with military power. Similar to the moves by the West from 1980 to 2000 in their justification for military intervention by NATO which received UN approval in 1995, repeated in 1999 against all of the UN charter rules!

A definite gap in my knowledge of recent history so I’ll bookmark those articles for closer reading I think.
