The EU is forcing big platforms to implement censorship on its behalf or face large fines; in practice they respond by moderating or removing content that those imposing the fine do not like - dancing to the tune without even waiting for the conductor, as it were.
In the firing line is political and health (same thing these days it appears) information. As Cremola points out, his own platform has been assaulted by “…members of Congress, state attorneys general and even President Biden himself”.
Twitter/X seems already backtracking on Musk’s public free speech drive.
A glimpse into the future is provided by this little Google clip; essentially suggests all independent news, when permitted at all, will go though the network of moronic Fact Checks stemming from sources officially designated ‘reputable’ by the de facto ministry of truth.

has stated that “lawful but awful” posts will be “deamplied,” and that the company policy
is one of “freedom of speech, not reach.” X is also actively recruiting applicants for
various censorship positions for the upcoming election in 2024
