As prefigured in that ever-prophetic document: ‘The Limits To Growth’, global population growth is faltering in many places, and actively reversing in key places - including some surprising ones. It feels to me as if we’re on, or very near, the summit of our overshoot episode.
Note that in the presentation linked below, Darrell Bricker, the author of ‘Empty Planet’, is not questioned, and in fact has nothing to say, about overshot ecological footprints and the consequent just-beginning era of Peak Everything. This, however, doesn’t negate what he’s saying, but rather further charges it with insightful accuracy:
