Facebook lifts ban on posts claiming Covid-19 was man-made

"Facebook has lifted a ban on posts claiming Covid-19 was man-made, following a resurgence of interest in the “lab leak” theory of the disease’s onset.

The social network says its new policy comes “in light of ongoing investigations into the origin”.

In February, Facebook explicitly banned the claim, as part of a broad policy update aimed at “removing more false claims about Covid-19 and vaccines”. In a public statement at the time, it said: “Following consultations with leading health organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), we are expanding the list of false claims we will remove to include additional debunked claims about the coronavirus and vaccines.”

Did Covid come from a Wuhan lab? What we know so far

Anyone posting claims that Covid-19 was “man-made or manufactured” could have seen their posts removed or restricted, and repeatedly sharing the allegation could have led to a ban from the site entirely.

On Wednesday, the company said: “In light of ongoing investigations into the origin of Covid-19 and in consultation with public health experts, we will no longer remove the claim that Covid-19 is man-made from our apps. We’re continuing to work with health experts to keep pace with the evolving nature of the pandemic and regularly update our policies as new facts and trends emerge.”

The change follows a Wall Street Journal report that US intelligence sources believe there is some evidence to warrant further investigation of the “lab leak” theory. According to the newspaper, three staff members at the Wuhan Institute for Virology sought hospital treatment for flu-like symptoms in November 2019. Others have criticised the reporting, noting that it still relies on circumstantial evidence and speculation.

Facebook is keen to ensure that a change in one rule doesn’t lead to a free-for-all for Covid misinformation. On the same day that it lifted the ban on lab-leak theories, it tightened up restrictions on users who “repeatedly share misinformation on Facebook”.

Under the new rules, individual Facebook users who repeatedly share content that has been rated false will have all their posts suppressed, even ones that have not been – or have yet to be – rated false. Additionally, users who like a page that has repeatedly shared false information will now be given a pop-up notice, warning them of the posting history.

“Whether it’s false or misleading content about Covid-19 and vaccines, climate change, elections or other topics, we’re making sure fewer people see misinformation on our apps,” Facebook said in a statement.

The company has come under fire this year for its failure to act on misinformation “superspreaders”: individual users with hundreds of thousands, or millions, of followers who regularly post false claims about Covid-19." https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/may/27/facebook-lifts-ban-on-posts-claiming-covid-19-was-man-made

Thanks for posting this @GKH

'Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.

Of course this has nothing to do with Fauci being thrown under the bus? No. The Chackt Feckers (h/t @RhisiartGwilym) think its all in the interests of truth and honesty.

OffG tl;dr:

Maybe the virus was grown in a lab, maybe it just jumped from bats to people. Since all evidence suggests it’s not very dangerous, it doesn’t really matter.
The debate sure does make a good distraction though.

The invisible, unwritten vibe-memo has gone out to all operatives, obviously:

Time to pull China and Fauci back into the gun-sights: blame Chinese bioweapons research [well of course they do! Which of the rich-biggy states isn’t up to it?] for the - non-existent - global pandemic health emergency. Blame Fauci, as the chosen scapegoat, for all the infernal cooperation between operatorz in Wuhan and Fort Detrick.

All this PBB pantomime is expressly to smokescreen the upper echelon of scam-plotters, behind the consiglieri functionaries like Fauci.

As various dissident savvies have pointed out already: There’s no need for us to waste much time on these canards. It doesn’t really matter whether the - alleged - pathogen occurred naturally, or artificially, or if it ever even occurred at all, since there’s clearly no pandemic going on, and all the house of cards that’s been built around the covid illusion could have been thrown up just as easily for the PBB simply on the back of a normal flue season, screechingly propagandised by the Gatesoid PTsB. The media- and techno-whores would have joined in just as obediently, anyway.

What matters is that the scam is faltering. People are waking up from the TDS trance. The fake-cines are an unfolding mass-casualty catastrophe which is already killing and maiming so many that that - actually genuine - news just can’t be suppressed; and this alone could spark an outraged uprising amongst the plebs if it gets bad enough, as clearly it’s going to.

To translate Brian Gerrish’s restrained-language assessment, in his testimony to Reiner Fuellmich, into my own scabrous paraphrase: the plotters are shitting themselves, because the whole scam looks ever more perilously close to falling apart. So, they cobble up a mediawhore-screechable distraction to throw before us-all. Hence: ‘Lynch liar Fauci! Everyone loathes him!’ and ‘Those damnable Chinese!’ [Back into trance, prole scum! 3, 2, 1, down! Lie down! Dream, dream, fearful dreams, but with a shining saviour with a needle rescuing you at the last moment. Deep asleep, now, and dreaming…’]

I’m really not so sure, Covid is dangerous enough to certain groups (without being psychopathic), conventional health care provision is barely sufficient for non-pandemic need in most countries too so Covid has had the opportunity to do real damage, however, it has been engineered for the job of fostering compliance. Deliberately poor and sluggish response in target countries being enough to frighten a majority into toe-ing the line. It’s a eugenicist’s plague but one not specifically designed for genocide (AIDS being much more so), as genocide would not be profitable. Lunacy of-course but I believe it to be true.

Can’t disagree with any of that, G.
