This is the old bird flu spreading to humans routine that last failed in 2005 when Neil Ferguson predicted that 200 million people could die of bird flu. IIRC only 58 people died and I bet none of them died of bird flu either. There’s been egg and chicken shortages in my part of the world for months and it’s getting worse. There’s been bird flu warnings pinned up in my local park snce December saying keep to the footpath with dogs on leads, not to touch dead or sick birds and DEFRA’s phone number to call if you see dead birds etc.Anyway, here’s this latest load of crap and lies expertly dissected and destroyed by Dr Sam Bailey in this mercifully short video which shows industrial scale numbers of chickens being slaughtered and removed in huge trucks.
I think I mentioned in another thread that I saw a “Bird Flu in this area” poster in a public loo in St Albans, about four weeks ago. Few other signs before or since but the greatly reduced supply of eggs has been obvious for a while. Nearest supermarkets are allocating about half the shelf space and at least one of them has a quota of 12 eggs at a time. I tend to only buy six anyway so haven’t paid close attention.
Now the spotlight turns to rice and it’s supposed contribution to climate issues… The crop is a daily staple for one hell of a lot of people, most of Asia for a start. I eat it 3-4 days per week (red, brown, or purple, not the processed white crap). As this article makes quite clear, shortages would be life-threatening on a huge scale.
