One source that we should never forget is ‘The Limits To Growth’, which from the first has projected a spontaneous global population downturn in the middle of this century, brought on synergistically by the other large-scale global trends which it also projected - also very accurately so far.
The growing energy constraints on human activity were also well projected, and are indeed screwing down on us right now, dead on TLTG schedule! Any well-informed gic, with obedient tame egg-head advisors in train, will know by now that there is a serious, growing, and - as far as any sober commentator can discern - incurable energy emergency growing steadily around the world.
Forced conservation of energy, by deliberately strangling large volumes of wholly optional energy-splurger indulgences, such as mass airborne, mainly touristy, air travel, is one obvious target. Another target is the masses of small niche businesses - such as restaurants - which, in hard-faced truth no-one actually needs - that can be shed with benefit to fuel economy; though of course only with massive loss, heartbreak, and semi-destitution hardship for millions, if it’s done in the gics’ supercilious, anti-democratic, sheep-driving way.

Dmitry’s insight tallies exactly with what Kevin is driving at: the covid hysterics are a scam, and there is indeed an unadmitted agenda behind them. And note: once again, no grand cospithirry needed to explain what’s happening; just a chaotic, lumbering band-waggon, with some real, but more restricted conspiracy-gangs embedded, such as Gates’ friends, and with crafty chancers of many persuasions leaping aboard anyhow, as they suss what’s happening, and doublethink their way into seeing that it’s to the benefit of their own perceived interests to get on board.
If only they’d start with the worlds largest energy consumer; the US military. It won’t solve the shortage, but the whole planet would be a better place!
