Hi folks, I woke up with a thought - who has the power to “proscribe” terrorists and their organisations and how do the laws created around such proscriptions take away our freedoms to speech, protest and question authority.
It appears that anti-terror legislation set up the power to proscribe in the hands of the Home Secretary subject only to the “cursory glance” of Parliamentary negative statutory instrument procedures - apparently this procedure has only once, in the last 45 years, resulted in a vote to annul the proposed legal changes of the SI. ( see point 8 in this link:
https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/90475/pdf/
)
I perused one report from Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation but found it lacking in balance - references were usually to official statements or reports without any real questioning of those sources. So human rights appear to be of secondary importance when it comes to issues of “terrorism”.
Nowhere have I seen officials or reviews of officials that question the existence of terrorist activities or raise the possibility that such so-called terrorism is actually generated by State agencies! The official State information is never questioned. The travesty of Richard Hall’s case on the Manchester Arena event personifies this, - see Iain Davis’ analysis.
So, on the word of the Home secretary, anyone or any organisation can be proscribed and the chances that this word will be successfully challenged in Parliament or courts is about nil! Does anyone ask whether that Home Secretary has conflicting interests - is he a member of a Friends of Israel organisation , or has he or his party accepted gifts from Zionist organisations working alongside the Israeli government - all of whom have interests in sanctioning opposition to Israeli and UK policies? Or is he/she just plainly corrupt? (rhetorical)
Here is the latest list of proscriptees:
https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN00815/SN00815.pdf
- the latest - the Wagnerian group - raises the question why are these other private armies NOT proscribed:
So it was interesting to read the latest from Simplicius ( h/t ceemac666 TLN):
" Someone famously said:
"If you want to understand how the world works, imagine that every action is the result of a conspiracy by your enemies."
This may seem cynical on its face, even nihilistic when you really chase the thought down, but we increasingly find today that it is unfortunately a realist perspective. When it comes to analyzing the actions of government, political, and bureaucratic figures, one must always prudently start from the position that they are acting in an unethical, conspiratorial way against the best interests of the populace. It is a kind of tautology: corporate and governmental figures are corrupt because their goals and objectives conflict with those of the people, forcing them to pursue those goals in underhanded fashion; and they invariably counterpose the people in such a way because they are corrupt."
- synchronicity or what
cheers
PS for an example of State funded terrorism look closely at the deliberate fear mongering of the Nudge Unit during Convid ( reluctanty admitted by Ruda, co-founder of the nudge unit, in this piece:
) - no danger of their members being subject to an early morning fascistic raid by State thugs for inappropriate support or encouragement of state terrorism!
