At a guess it’s simple spite rather than hypocrisy.
A quick anecdote. I have a friend who lives in St Louis, Missouri. Her husband is the breadwinner and works as a reiki therapist. He is blind and the practice operates from her home.
Despite four or more jabs each and constant hand washing rituals etc he is repeatedly catching bugs from clients. It’s a close contact thing and this risk just isn’t going to go away. Thanks to the menticide of 2020+ they both continue to double down and nag clients to test before they visit, force them to wear paper masks, and all the other bs.
If and when the business has to be wound up it will be the fault of Republicans and antivaxxers Yadda Yadda Yadda.
And this mindset is still deeply entrenched in the Blue states of the US in particular. If you’re a nice person you stick with the rituals, and you get to be nearer the front of the queue for jobs. Jobs in the plural by the way: a sustainable American Dream lifestyle is way beyond the reach of lots of people unless they run a side hustle.
