Interesting short note in The Lancet about how Australia’s First Nations people managed to reverse the usual gap in health outcomes between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians by developing and implementing their own COVID management strategies and getting Australian governments to work alongside them rather than forcing them to follow non-Indigenous led strategies.
“The result of this First Nations-led response has shown how effective (and extremely cost-effective) giving power and capacity to Indigenous leaders is. This response has avoided major illness and deaths and avoided costly care and anguish. It is nothing short of a triumph”
