I hardly have time to focus on this, but as usual we are being manipulated by the ptb. Just after the two Australians escaped from China against the wishes of the Chinese - they were NOT “expelled” as widely reported or implied - it was revealed that two and a half months ago four Chinese journos working in Australia for Xinhua etc had been raided by police at night, who had “taken” computers and other gear, including even the childrens’ iPads, while forcing women in their jamas to get dressed etc. They were so intimidated by this treatment that they have since returned home. THis happened at the same time as a Labour MP was raided and accused of some activities threatening the national interest involving Chinese businessmen. Because ASIO forbad the Chinese from revealing what happened, it wasn’t known, even by the ABC (?) when ASIO warned them and the AFR correspondent that they should leave China, in case of retributions etc, or worse - that the Chinese questioned them and found things out. So the ABC staff all had a party before flying home… except that when the Chinese found out, they stopped them leaving pending some “questioning” - which they attempted to do turning up at the ABC’s home after the party. Bill Birtles wouldn’t answer the questions and took refuge in the Australian consulate, where there was a stand off with the very upset Chinese, until an agreement was reached that the Australians could leave after answering some questions - which they said weren’t very substantial.
THIS was NOT “Expulsion” ! So it was not a “tit for tat” move by the Chinese, but an attempt by Australia to avoid interrogations about OUR foreign interference. Bill Birtles has been a bad correspondent on China since the CV campaign against them led by Australia - and I wouldn’t blame them for chucking him out, but they didn’t! We on the other hand, raided the Chinese in an threatening fashion, the way we treat our own dissenters, including ABC journalists making true claims about our war crimes in Afghanistan, and Murdoch journalists who reveal that ASIO has plans to surveil its own citizens - as is happening now. Bad bad bad!
