Australia forced to ditch its anti-disinformation bill

Couldn’t get it past the opposition, not sure why as the Labs have a majority. Apparently it was a Concervative bill initially. Too confusing! Anyway it’s a dead duck-billed platypus now.

I noted this with a smile: at least they’ll get marks from Bill (and probably dollars too):

“Progressive media outlets such as The Guardian, which would have been sheltered from the bill’s most severe provisions, were full-throated in their support for the legislation, dismissing opposition as a “scare campaign”. But the fractures within progressive circles proved to be the most intriguing development.”
