Assange trial today, 16 Sep. John Goetz and Daniel Ellsberg give testimony

Long Twitter thread going over the days events.

One that caught my interest is this signed letter entered under oath at the Old Bailey that Guardian journalist David Leigh lied about a supposed quotation from Assange allegedly saying:

informants deserve to die

Assange didn’t say it. Nothing reported from the Guardian of course.

Both witnesses served to have been very strong today.

Ellsberg: “I did not get a fair trial despite a very intelligent and conscientious judge.” No one since his case has had a fair trial.

“Julian Assange could not get a remotely fair trial under those charges in the United States.”

Video summary of the day

Also remember that David Leigh (together with Luke Harding) was the guy that publicly leaked the wikileaks password, causing the leaks to be made public without redaction.

Something the US govt is accusing Assange about now.

David Leigh and Luke Harding then went on to mint it by writing a book and then getting a film deal.

Love to see what true journalists look like
