Birth rates continue to fall in many countries, including China. Seems like we’re going to hit peak population sooner than planned - good for the environment and absolutely disastrous for our capitalist economies.
Perhaps time for some kind of… Reset?
Good old ‘Limits To Growth’! Spot on the mark again. They projected a spontaneous downturn in the human-population overshoot curve for the middle decades of this century. Clearly we’re seeing the early trending in that direction with the spontaneous fall in fertility which is evident already. As TLTG said, this will happen because of the impact on human societies of the other trends - such as pollution - which they also projected; also correctly.
So - even though it’s mournfully clear that hom-sap can’t get its act together to do a humane reduction, Gaian processes will take care of it for us; just a good deal less humanely.
