And it’s surprisingly comforting stuff in total. Note most particularly the cultural differences between Russia and the Anglozionist empire. It seems the empire’s view of things isn’t the only valid one, and certainly never destined to become world orthodoxy, despite the delusions entertained by many Westerners to that effect. Multipolar means multipolar!
It is bizarre that there was zero discussion about covid.
Got any links to any (free) output from Orlov on the subject of covid?
Only the paywalled pieces, R. He hasn’t said a lot about covid; though I think from odd half-lines that he’s not fooled. Can only wait till he decides to speak on it.
The scepticism about AGW, and the Russian scientists’ idea that the oceans are heating from below, from an upticked output of nuclear fission heat coming up from the Earth’s core, are properly fleshed out in his subscriber pieces, though.
It’s those vignettes, and the fact that these alternative hypotheses are taken as simple common sense by a lot of Russians, that makes me underscore the clear divergence of worldviews which exist in different regions of the world, whilst we Westerners believe naively that we have the one, right, obviously universally-applicable system that everyone should accept, and other people resist only because of wilful obduracy.
That makes me dubious about him, too, then; as I have become about Saker.
Orlov already made me dubious about himself a few years ago when he was apparently incapable/unwilling to grasp my point about Putin-Israel-Palestine.
I’m beginning to think there might be a generic problem with these Russia-specialist global analysts. The (‘brilliant’?) correctness of their analyses in certain areas has rendered them arrogant and blind with regard to other issues.
If they had some humility, they would advocate: ‘Only listen to me on areas where I have expertise. And I promise to humbly shut up or admit my ignorance outside those areas.’
My experience of Dmitry’s response to contradictions from commenters - there are a few now and them - is that he never concedes. Just something about his personality, I guess, which you might characterise as an over-strong certainty about his own rightness, instead of the tentative, always-revisable conviction which is all any of us ever have any rational right to. As you follow interesting thinkers’ outputs, you become aware of these small personality glitches, and make a bit of prudent discount for them. There seem to be no exceptions. (Reminds me of a jingle which I first saw years ago, and which I like to use as a soberer-upper from time to time: ‘See the little moron / How quietly he stands. / I’m glad I’m not a moron. / My god! Perhaps I am!’)
You are correct rippon. Orlov has made some pretty foolish remarks about bitcoin. His rant on the subject showed that he does not really understand much about it, yet he is so convinced of the correctness of his view, almost as insulting to his readers as Saker was in his latest blog.
You invested in bitcoin, S? If yes, get out whilst you still can without losing your shirt! None of these imaginary currencies has any future - especially not as electricity becomes an unreliable supply.
